Silkscreen printing - t-shirts, golf shirts, etc.
Silkscreen-printing: There are several techniques used to decorate garments. At Oahu Print Company we utilize a direct to garment screen-printing. (The terms "silk screening" and "screen-printing" are used interchangeably.) This is by far and away the best method for reproducing images in true-to-life color. And screen-printing is the most cost effective for large quantity print runs.

The screen-printing inks we use are of the highest quality and the most durable. And we guarantee that the print will outlast the garment. This cannot be said for the following other decorating techniques. Much more vibrant color can be produced with silkscreen printing. And it is easy to see when you look at the same image side-by-side.

At the end of the printing, quality control inspects each garment to guarantee the garment meets our strict, high quality standards.

Embroidery

Embroidery: Our embroidery services are among the best in the industry. Our embroidery services can create custom embroidered caps, golf shirts, and t-shirts with your custom design or logo.

Embroidered monograms and personalization's are a great way to customize t-shirts, golf shirts and caps. Our staff can even embroider on screen printed t-shirts and golf shirts. Our embroidery services include puff 3D embroidery as well as creating custom embroidered logos and patches.

Embroidery prices are calculated on a per stitch basis. We digitize your custom design or business logo to determine the embroidery stitch count. The stitch count indicates the amount of time required to embroider brush cotton caps, golf shirts, jackets etc. The lower the stitch count, the lower the cost!

Basic Embroidery Techniques: Satin Stitch
To take advantage of all the great embroidery services that Oahu Print Company has to offer, you should know there are two main embroidery techniques that are used when applying lettering or numbers to your garment: satin stitch and step-satin stitch embroidery. They create the same design, but bring different visual effects and textures to the design. The following information will help you choose the perfect embroidery for your garment.

Satin Stitch Embroidery
Satin stitch gets its name from its sheen as it catches the light to reflect a soft, yet bright, color such as satin does. A satin stitch is often used for lettering, 2 inches or smaller in height. This stitch produces a lower stitch count overall, is used on simple designs and gives a smooth clean satin finish.

Heat Transfers

Heat-Transfers: Heat transfer a process where a highly detailed digital images is printed on to a piece of plastic coated paper and then heat-pressed directly onto the fabric of a shirt (or other garment) in order to transfer that image. They come into different ways although they are using the same process.

Heat transfers consist of an image printed in reverse (i.e. mirrored) and applied to a piece of high release transfer paper. The image is usually printed onto the paper with plastisol inks which have the characteristics of being flexible enough for stretching and durable enough for wear but normal inks will also work just fine. The image is applied to these items using a heat press machine, which uses high temperature and pressure to transfer the ink from the paper to the garment. The process of transferring an image from the paper to the garment takes about 15-20 seconds and does not require a drying or curing process once applied. Iron-on Transfers For iron-on transfers use your iron's hottest setting but no steam. It takes a lot of heat and pressure to transfer the image evenly and completely to the fabric. Peel off the paper while it is still hot.

Transfers can contain any image in any combination of colors, even thousands of colors for complete Photo-Realism. If you want the printed image to look exactly like your artwork and only need about 20-30 items printed or less we would generally use the heat transfer method.
