Frequently Asked Questions
Paper Types: We use only premium quality paper stock.
- 24lb. Standard: White copy bond paper that’s useful for simple copies.
- 24lb. Laser: White copy bond paper that’s a little lighter and brighter than our Standard. An excellent choice for presentations, insides of booklets or documents with a lot of ink coverage.
- 80lb. Coated Text: Paper is pre-coated for a glossy look – similar to the inside pages of most magazines. Not a coverstock, but a good fit for something like a resume.
- 100lb. Uncoated Coverstock: No coating and perfect for an item that must be written on. Often used for booklet covers, sell sheets and comment cards.
- 110lb. Coated Coverstock: Like the 80lb. Coated Text, but much heavier. A great match for professional looking flyers, business cards and booklet covers.
- 14pt. and 16pt. Coverstock: Ultra thick – any thicker and you’ll need to print on
plastic or metal.
Printing
Digital vs. Offset
- Digital Printing: Best suited for low quantity production (less than 2,500), quick turnarounds (under 48 hours), or print jobs with variable data. Materials are printed on high-end digital color laser printers – capable of press quality printing without the setup charges or minimum run requirements.
- Offset Printing: Better suited for higher quantity print runs (more than 2,500). For the most professional looking materials, offset printing with a UV or Aqueous coating is the best way to go. Generally a longer production time (5-7 days), but the end product is certainly worth it.
Our printing process: CMYK
- CMYK, or process color, is an industry standard method of printing in full color. It’s the most economical method of reproducing full color images in the highest quality. Most magazines and glossy collaterals are printed this way.
We use state-of-the-art ink-based presses and digital printers – resulting in unlimited
color combinations and optimum print quality production.
Artwork
- Color Printing and Proofs: Some colors used in RGB images can be difficult to reproduce in CMYK. For instance, blues pose the greatest color-match challenge when converted from RGB to CMYK – color can look slightly different than it does in a paperless online proof.
For best results, we recommend converting RGB images to CMYK first. Sometimes, slight changes to the image will occur after conversion and you’ll be able to see these changes before production has started.
